WOOLWORKS

FINAL BACHELOR PROJECT ABOUT THE THE FUTURE OF WOOLEN SUMMER CLOTHING

As a result of climate change, summers are getting hotter, longer and dryer. This calls for radical changes as well as methods, products, and technologies that help alleviate the summer discomfort. One such technology is air-cooling, however, this is not deemed a sustainable solution as air cooling appliances strain the electricity grid and as a result emit immense amounts of CO2. Thus, there is a clear opportunity to explore alternatives to provide aid and relief during hot summer periods. Woolworks presents such an alternative by focusing on the benefits of wool. Through a speculative design approach, the project encourages the discussion if woolen clothing can be a viable and sustainable solution for providing summer comfort.
